Hoyt James Townsend

Mr. Hoyt James Townsend, 71, of Old Weed Rd., Blairsville, Ga., died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2006 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness.

Mr. Townsend was born Sept. 28, 1935 in Union County, Ga., the son of the late Ed Townsend and the late Dovie Seabolt Townsend. He was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He had been employed in the Automotive retail parts business for most of his life. Mr. Townsend was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Surviving Mr. Townsend is his loving wife of 40 years, Phyllis McConnell Townsend of Blairsville; brother and sister-inlaw, Roy and Ida Townsend of Blairsville; sister and brother-inlaw, Mamie and Ray Rogers of Blairsville; several nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Dec. 3, 2006 at 11 a.m. from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. B.A. Buchanan officiating. Special music was presented by Tommy

Townsend, Thomas Hand

and Nancy Dyer.

Pallbearers were Junior

Anderson, Curtis Young, Terry Rogers, Milton Bradley, Phillip McConnell and Bud Nichols. Honorary pallbearers were Harold Moore, Chris Strachan, Brownie Brown, Thomas Hand, Will Hand, Roy Callaham and David Bryson. Interment followed in the Union Memory Gardens Cemetery with the North GA. Honor Guard conducting Military Honors.
