Christos Edgar Mikronis
Christos Edgar Mikronis died November 27, 2006 at The Villages Hospice House.
Mr. Mikronis, also known as "Iron Mike," was born in Baton Rouge, La., and moved to The Villages from Blairsville, Ga., in 2004. Mr. Mikronis served in the U.S. Navy during WWII aboard the USS Ranger, the USS Bataan and the USS Franklin. He was awarded the Silver Star, the Purple Heart and the National Defense medals. He wrote his story about being a Navy pilot and a Landing Signal Officer in a book called Their Life in My Hands.
Mr. Mikronis studied Mechanical Engineering at LSU and later served as President of Precision Products and Rexnord, Inc. in Sarasota, Fla. Active in Sarasota's Chamber of Commerce and the Cancer Society, he was voted Man of the Year twice. Preceding him in death were his sons, Gary and
Robert.

Wayne, Ind., Michael Mikronis, Tarpon Springs, Fla., Dr. Zach Mikronis, Atlanta, Ga., and Tomi Lynn Whitwright, Temecula, Calif.
A memorial service will be held in Lady Lake on December 4 at 11:30 a.m. at North Lake Presbyterian Church followed by lunch. Mr. Mikronis will be buried with honors at Arlington Cemetery. Contributions may be made to The Villages Hospice House.
