Gilbert Donald Heaney

Mr. Gilbert Donald Heaney, 67, of Highland Trace, Blairsville, Ga., died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2006 at his home following an extended illness.

Mr. Heaney was born Feb. 8, 1939 in Port Jefferson, N.Y., the son of the late James D. Heaney and the late Ethel M.Gilbert Heaney. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He retired in 1999 from the Long Island Lighting Company with over 35 years of service. Mr. Heaney was of the Methodist faith.

Surviving Mr. Heaney is his loving wife of 40 years, Kathleen Kelly Heaney of Blairsville; sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Rachel Heaney of New Jersey, Brian and Charlotte Heaney of New York; daughter, Lauren Heaney of New York; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Brenda Heaney of New York; grandchildren, Julie,

Emma, Brendan and Joseph; many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 4, 2006 at 10:30 a.m from the Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, N.Y., with Military Honors following.
