Parker trial delayed again

The trial of Leonard Parker, charged with robbing two banks, including one in Peachtree in Cherokee County, has been delayed once again.

Suellen Pierce, with the U.S. Attorney's Office, said the case has been continued until the February 12 term because Parker has been assigned a new lawyer. Court appointed attorneys have been assigned to handle Parker's case.

Parker is charged with robbing the First Citizens

Bank in Peachtree on January 11, 2006 and taking a teller hostage. No one was injured in the robbery.

Parker is also charged with robbing the Mooresville Savings Bank in Cornelius, N.C., on January 6, five days before he robbed the Peachtree bank.

Parker, 49, of Morganton, Ga., previously owned Mountain Max Auto Superstore on the Murphy Highway in Union County.
