Rotary in Motion: The Rotary Foundation

Rotary Clubs around the globe strive to serve their communities, their states, their nation and the world. Clubs participate in projects individually as well as collaboratively in an effort to make life better for those around them. Projects cover a range of themes including literacy, disease control, environmental concerns, helping the handicapped and much more. These projects are funded primarily through the Rotary Foundation. Gary Moore, the Rotary Foundation Annual Chairman for District 6910, spoke to Union County Rotarians recently about the importance of supporting the Rotary Foundation.

With the mission of the Rotary Foundation being to support Rotary International, Moore explained, "The Rotary Foundation is the economic engine of R o t a r y International." With goals such as eliminating poverty and improving the environment, supporting the Rotary Foundation is extremely important. Rotary Foundation also focuses on educational programs, PolioPlus - a project dedicated to eradicating Polio completely, and humanitarian grants.

Moore encouraged Union County Rotarians to give and give generously. He also told them about different ways to give to the Foundation. Before

ending his presentation, Moore also congratulated Union County Rotary Club members on the generosity they have previously demonstrated.
