Lions attend Georgia Lions Lighthouse meeting

The following Union County Lions attended the recent semi-annual Lighthouse meeting in Macon, Georgia: Arthur and Betty Gurr; Gene and Louise Little. This was the first time that lions Gene and Louise have ever attended a Lighthouse meeting and needless t say they were quite impressed with the many work sessions offered and the mass of information gleaned. Lions Arthur and Betty have

attended Lighthouse meetings for 25 plus years with Lion Arthur currently an Associate Director of the Lighthouse, representing Union County Lions Club.

Some of the sessions attended were: Children's Eye Care, Hearing Committee, Sight Committee, White Cane, Public Support and Fundraising, Public relatins, Ten Million Dollar committee. And this year for the first time 'Training for Vision Screening' was offered, of which Lion Betty attended. You will hear more about this in the future.

Yes, this was a weekend of work sessions, however, great fellowship was also enjoyed by all. We might add that the following items were turned in tho the Lighthouse: 615 pairs used eye glasses; 207 loose eye glass lens; 15 eye glass frames; 5 used hearing aids; 39 discarded cell phones with 18 chargers and 17 car connectors.

A huge thanks to you, the public, for donation he above items. You may continue to do so at the following locations where the Lions have collection boxes: Ingles; Blairsville Optical; Mountain Eye Care; or you may drop them off at Cochran Funeral Home or Mountain Eye Care; or you may drop them off at Cochran Funeral Home or Mountain View Funeral Home.

Remember the Lions Motto: We serve.
