Sorghum Festival Golf Classic 2006
After the putting contest and lunch, prepared by Rotary Club members, golfing got started at noon. For the next five and a half hours the 104 golfers each took their best shot on the eighteen holes at Butternut Creek Golf Course. When it was all said and done though, there could only be one winner. Scott Carter, Danny Hemphill, Chris Robbins and Jason Busbee took home the trophy and prize for First Place (low gross). Team members Danny Hemphill and Chris Robbins also won prizes for the putting contest and the longest drive contest on hole 2, respectively. Three other teams were given plaques and prizes for First, Second & Third Place (low net). On holes number four, eight, and seventeen, golfers were given the chance to compete for a prize for getting the ball closest to the pin. The winners for that event were Jeremy McDonald, Rob Cochran and Cary Cox, respectively.
The Union County Rotary Club would like to thank them; without help from the community the tournament would not have been possible.
