Tea Ministry continues
By N. LEE O'LEARY

Guest speaker Linda Davis.
Newcomers to the community were recently welcomed by Teas From the Heart Ministry. Thirty smiling faces were greeted by forty-four volunteers, including tuxedoed parking valets and aproned hostesses.

The seated guests learned about the history of the tea ministry which was the vision of Mrs. Phyllis Ott. Incorporated as a non-profit, non-denominational organization, the ministry has grown phenomenally. A rotating board and several tiers of volunteers have assisted in honoring newcomers, caregivers, military wives, and ministerial spouses. A major goal is to link ladies with similar interests to one another and to be a touch point of spiritual encouragement. The teas are held in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Kennith Ott of Hiawassee.

On this fall day, a variety of elegantly presented food was served amidst decorations of pumpkins, pilgrims, and candles. Soon the newcomers were laughing and sharing stories of moving and settling in this beautiful area. Afterward, the group gathered to hear the speaker, Mrs. Linda Davis, a Hayesville resident and member of Truett Memorial Baptist Church. The guest soloist was Marji Elzey, also from Hayesville. Mrs. Elzey is the Worship Leader at Christ the King Church in Hiawassee.

The tea was an inspiring event, filling the afternoon of newcomers with delightful food, lovely music, and new acquaintances. To learn more about the ministry, contact Phyllis Ott at 706-896-8139.
