Lady Mountain Lions win Region XVII Soccer Championship

The Lady Mountain Lions won the Region XVII Soccer Championship Tournament Saturday, October 28, defeating Darton College.

Coach Kathy Brown said of the victory, "In 10 years of coaching at YHC, I can honestly say that this was one of the most rewarding wins!"

With only five minutes left in the game, Freshman Kennya (Ya Ya) Cordner scored, putting YHC ahead ofDarton College. When Darton was awarded a

penalty kick with two minutes to go, YHC goal keeper Samantha Spradley blocked the score, making the Lady Mountain Lions the Region XVII Champs. Victory was especially sweet since Darton defeated Young Harris College last year at the region championships.

On the heels of this victory comes the distinction of hosting the District Tournaments on the YHC campus November 3 and 4. Details of the Tournament can be found at www.yhc.edu.

Founded in 1886, Young Harris College is a private, core liberal arts college focused on university preparation. Historically affiliated with The United Methodist Church, a primary goal of Young Harris College is to provide a quality education for the whole person: intellectually, socially, culturally, and spiritually.
