North Georgia Rapids at Lanier Aquatics Fall Invitational

The North Georgia Rapids Swim Team, sponsored by the Blue Ridge Mountain Fitness Club, traveled to Gainesville, Georgia recently for the always ever popular Fall Invitational Swim Meet. Although the team had a small number of swimmers compete, those swimming continued to show significant improvement.

The team's newest member, Maggie Davis, who just turned nine, participated in her first competitive swim meet. Maggie has only been a team member for several months but continues to show vast improvement and a strong work ethic which will help her in future competitive events.

Anna Knight, age ten, continued her winning streak by

being one of the top swimmers in the girls' ten and under age group.

Anna earned two first place ribbons in the 50 yd and 100 yd freestyle, both of which were personal best times and a fifth and third place finish in the 50 yd breaststroke and 25 yd freestyle respectively.

In the afternoon session, Alaina Papazian, age eleven, swimming in just her second meet, had an excellent showing, placing in three out of four races. Alaina earned a seventh in the 100 yd freestyle and an eighth in the 50 yd breaststroke and completed her day wit h a ninth in the 50 yd freestyle.

The team's twelve and under boys Michael Smith and Tanner Gay also made a strong

statement by both boys earning ribbons in all events entered. Michael had two personal best times, earning two sixths in the 50 yd breaststroke and 25 yd free and two eighths in the 50 and 100 yd freestyle events.

Tanner had one personal best time in the 50 yd breaststroke, earning a second place finish and three fourth place ribbons in the 25 yd, 50 yd and 100 yd freestyle races.

The swim team is just beginning its Fall/Winter swim season and would welcome any potential new swimmers to come join us at the Fitness Club.
