Fiddlin Howard Cunningham and the Appalachian Tunesmiths at Folk School

The Appalachian Tunesmiths featuring Fiddlin' Howard Cunningham will perform a concert of traditional country, bluegrass and swing music at 7:30 p.m. Friday, November 10 at the John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown The public is welcome to enjoy a public exhibition of Folk School student crafts from 6:40 - 7 p.m in the Keith House Community Room, where the concert will be held.

Fiddlin' Howard Cunningham has won many fiddling championships in Georgia, Tennessee and Alabama. He directs the country music program at the Georgia Mountain Fair in Hiawassee, is a member of the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame and winner of the prestigious Fiddling John Carson award for his contributions to traditional country music.

His band, the Appalachian Tunesmiths include some of the finest musicians in the area. Banjoist Barry Palmer is winner of many state and national banjo championships and also an accomplished mandolin and guitar player. He also plays with the band, Bluegrass Alliance. Don Fox has performed with many of the best local bluegrass groups. While he plays mainly guitar with the Tunesmiths, Fox can play all the bluegrass instruments and sing any part. Bass player and singer LaRita Buchanan has won several awards from the South Carolina Fine Arts Association and has recorded with the Bluegrass Alliance.

The final concerts of 2006 will be County Farm (Dec. 1) and The Brasstown Ringers (Dec. 8). The Folk School concert schedule is available on the world wide web at http://www.folkschool.org.
