NGT offers home decor sewing class

North Georgia Technical College's Continuing Education department is pleased to announce that Ellen Burgess, also known as "The Fairy Godmother of Cozy Cove Hollow" will be teaching the "Christmas Home Décor Sewing" class in November

Ms. Burgess, who has been in the Blairsville area since 1993, is truly a gifted seamstress and designer with over twenty years' experience. Ms. Burgess created costumes for displays at Disney World in Orlando, Florida, for five years and she now shares her talents and time with the community here. A true wizard with sequins and beads, high school students in a wide area have affectionately dubbed her "The Fairy Godmother of Cozy Cove Hollow."

"I'm really just selftaught," says Burgess humbly. She picked up sewing as an economic necessity shortly after her first child was born and a natural artistic flair catapulted her into Disney's display world.

Along with costume and prom dress creation, Burgess

has an unrivaled knack for remaking dresses to suit the occasion. Whether it is combining two wedding dresses into one, or completely remaking

an heirloom to fit the next generation, Burgess can make it happen.

Beginning in November, Ellen will share her gifts and

talents with beginner seamstresses who want to create a little Holiday magic for the home. "We'll start with something very simple, but very effective,"

said Burgess as she began planning the table runner project. With her charm and creativity, this class promises to be a fun time for all participants.
