Grand opening of ArtWorks Artisan Centre

The Mountain Regional Arts & Crafts Guild is proudly announcing the grand opening of their ArtWorks Artisan Centre on Friday October 20, 2006.

Everybody is invited to come and see this wonderful new gallery of fine arts and handmade crafts between 10am and 6pm. Come and visit with some of the artisans, check out the classroom where wonderful classes will be taught and enjoy refreshments.At ArtWorks, located on 308 Big Sky Drive, above the Holiday Inn Express in Hiawassee,GA you can find handcrafted baskets,quilts, jewelery, paintings, woodworking, photography, stained glass and much more, all crafted by very talented local and regional artisans. The class schedule includes something for everybody:

Beginning Drawing taught by Jacqueline Goldman, Tuesday 2pm to 4pm, starting October 17 - December 5 (8 weeks). This class is for students with little or no drawing experience or for those who wish to refresh their training. Cost $ 80.00.

Fruit Basket taught by Joan Stoneham, Wednesday, October 25 10.00am to 4.00pm. A great class to try and see if you enjoy the art of basket weaving. Class $30.00, supplies $25.00 Mohair Bear Class taught by Rita Casey, an award winning artist Thursday, October 26 and Friday, October 27, from 9.00am to 5.00pm. Students will learn how to make their own 12" fully joined bear Class $115.00, supplies $60.00. Introduction to Precious

Metal Clay(PMC), taught by Jerri W. Duncan, Saturday October 28, between 10.00am and 4.00pm PMC is fine silver particles with a clay type binder. You will be taking home a beaytiful handcrafted pendant Class $ 30.00, supplies $ 75.00 Batic Watercolor taught by Verle Jones, Thursday November 2, 10.00am to 2.00pm. Paint an autumn scene on rice paper using the batic method Class $ 20.00, supplies $ 15.00.

Bear Head Ornament taught by Rita Casey, November 6, 11.00 am to 2.00pm. Make an ornament for gift giving or for your tree, Class $ 15.00, supplies $ 8.00.

Apples & Enamel Pan Still Life taught by Carol Blackburn, November 13, 10.00am to 2.00 pm. This class indroduces students

to to non toxic and non odor heat set oils. Paint a small canvas still life. All levels are welcome. Class $ 20.00, supplies $ 12.00.

Door Basket taught by Joan Stoneham, November 16, 10.00am to 4.00pm. Make a basket for your front door. The basket will be embellished with natural and fiber embellishments. Class $ 30.00, supplies $ 25.00. Holiday Elf Workshop taught by Charlie Patrtcolo, November 17 & 18, 10.00 am to 4.00pm. Make a holiday Elf with a stocking. Machine stitching, needle sculpting and embellishments make your unique. Class $ 80.00.

Introduction to Precious Metal clay (PMC) taught by Jerri W. Duncan, December 2, 10.00am to 4.00pm. For all those who missed the first class

or want to make another pendant. Class $ 30.00, supplies $ 75.00.

Bear Head Ornament taught by Rita Casey, December 7 10.00am to 1.00, make another one of those adorabe ornaments. Class $ 15.00, supplies $ 8.00.
