Beta Sigma Phi-enjoyed full month of activities The annual picnic held October 1st at Poteete's Creek picnic area on the shores of beautiful Nottely Lake. Friendship abounded with Sisters, husbands and guests enjoying the cook-out. Our last meeting, held Wednesday evening put together last minute plans for the Yard Sale, which is our annual ways and means project, held each October. This fund raiser adds to our yearly scholarship fund and contributes to our many community projects. Information was given about our October 28th Social which sounds exciting, husbands and guests are invited. Janet Hartman, running for District #2 School Board introduced herself to our chapter, giving her qualifications, sharing her focus on academics, communication and fiscal responsibility. She asked for our consideration and vote on Nov. 7th, as she is anxious to work for the welfare and betterment of our children in Union County. The monthly program was given by Juanita Schneider, who related stories her grandmother told her when she was 9 years old, perking interest in family history and later genealogy. Researching her ancestors, Juanita found many Revolutionary War soldiers, enabling her to join the Old Unicoi Trail Chapter of the DAR, serving Union, Fannin and Towns Counties in Georgia. Juanita ended by encouraging each member to construct their family medical history chart giving them data on their health. Our chapter meets once a month and we welcome and encourage you to join us, please call Lin Keheley at 706-781- 3108 for information. |
