United employees often hear from customers about how the tomato plants they receive at Customer Appreciation Days are doing. But when Sharon Arnold of the Blairsville Marketing Department heard from customer Frances Graham, she had to go see for herself.
Frances received some tomato plants from Customer Appreciation Day in May and now they are at least 10 feet tall near her house in Blairsville. Frances did not use
any fertilizer, just the lovely Georgia clay in her backyard. Frances' son-in-law had to stake the plants with a board because every time it rained, they seemed to grow even taller. Frances moved here from Houston, Texas about 2 years ago and has a daughter at Young Harris College, 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
We always heard things were bigger in Texas, but this Texas transplant has grown some great tomatoes here in Georgia!
