Not only will he cover the necessary plants that attract butterflies, he will cover all the environmental conditions you can provide that will stop butterflies in their tracks and convince them to stay in your garden. Dr. Paul Thomas

Dr. Thomas is a Professor of Floriculture at The University of Georgia, on the main campus in Athens, GA. He holds a B.S. degree in botany and a M.S. degree in plant and soil science from Southern Illinois University. He earned a Ph.D. in plant physiology from the Pennsylvania State University with specialization in plant carbohydrate transport. His responsibilities include planning and implementing regional and state programs involving the greenhouse and florist industry and serving as State Extension Specialist in

Floriculture. He teaches Greenhouse Management and Interiorscaping classes. He currently serves on the board of directors of FIRST, the Floriculture Industry Research and Scholarship Trust, and a a grant reviewer for the American Floral Endowment.

Prior to coming to Georgia, Dr. Thomas held the positions at the USDA/ARS Northern Regional Research Center in Peoria, Illinois and at the Chicago Botanic Garden.
