Wilburn Bruce Payne

Mr. Wilburn Bruce Payne, 101, native and lifelong resident of Union County, Ga., died Wednesday, September 20, 2006 in Union General Hospital.

Mr. Payne was born Monday, March 20, 1905 in Union County, to the late Levi and Josephine Pickelsimer Payne. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and had worked hard all his life as a farmer. Mr. Payne was preceded in death by his wife Nellie Dyer Payne in 1996.

Survivors include his son, Ernest A. Payne; daughters, Louise Worthington, Ethel Ann Payne, all of Blairsville; eight grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren survive,

along with many other relatives

and friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, September 22, 2006 at 2 p.m. from the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Rev.

Steve Youngblood and

Rev. Earl Pickelsimer

officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were

Dennis Worthington, Gary Payne, Anthony Payne, Melvin Payne, Christopher Payne and Johnny Wallace.
