Drawing-nine patch quilt

One of the many quilts displayed at the Indian Summer Festival at Woody Gap School in Suches.
The drawing for this Nine Patch Quilt will be on Sunday, October 8 at 4:00 at the Indian Summer Festival at Woody Gap School in Suches. This pattern was a favorite of old-time quilters. For this quilt, cotton fabric was chosen and pieced in the tradition of a scap quilt. It was hand quilted by Lula Mae Parker. The quilt will be displayed in the school cafeteria during the festival on October 7 and 8. Craft items and freshly made pies will also be on sale in the cafeteria. Tickets for the quilt are $1.00 per ticket or six tickets for $5.00 and are availbable at the festival or from any member of the Homemakers Club. The money fro the sale of the quilt tickets, pies and craft items will be used to purchase books for the Woody Gap School library, scholarships for graduating seniors and to help sponsor the school's trip to Jekyll Island.
