The Club Shoppe Open Tournament

The Club Shoppe Open group.
The Ridges Junior Golf Tour opened its fourth season at Cherokee Hills Golf Course in Murphy, NC, with The Club Shoppe Open tournament sponsored by the Club Shoppe. Randy and Eleanor Vaughn, owners of the Club Shoppe were on hand to greet the junior players and welcome them to this year's first tour stop. The tour has 74 players representing seven of the surrounding counties. Thirty one of the players are from Union, twenty seven players from Clay, six are from Towns, four from Fannin, three from White, two from Cherokee, and one from Pickens Counties.

The weather was perfect for shooting low scores. First place finishers for the seven divisions were from Clay, Towns, Cherokee, Union, and White counties. Kyle Mack, Tri County Junior Golf Association Tournament Director and Assistant Golf Professional at The Ridges Resort and Club noted "The quality of players that we have from Northeast Georgia is truly remarkable. To have five counties represented with first place finishes in seven divisions shows how good the

players are across the area. This quality of golf will continue to grow each year as we see more and more junior players spending more time on the area courses." Clay County took two first place honors winning two divisions, the boys 10 and under division and the girls 14 and under. Clay County also took overall honors with 12 golfers placing and Union County came in second with 9 golfers placing.

The two hottest players on the course for The Club Shoppe Open were Luke Crumley from White County and Clay Burnette from Union County. Luke carded

a 39 over nine holes which was 12 shots better than the average score for the boys 13 and 14 division. Clay scorched the course with a 44 over nine holes, 17 shots better than the average score for the boys 11and 12 division. The afternoon started great and ended well for all the players. The Tri County Junior Golf Association would like to thank all of the volunteers who give their time to the success of the tour.
