McKira West Sr.

Mr. McKira West Sr., 97, of Blairsville, Ga., formerly of St. Petersburg, Fla., died Monday, September 18, 2006 at Chatuge Regional Nursing Home.

Mr. West was born Tuesday, September 29, 1908 in Cairo, Ga., to the late David Walter West and Fleeta West. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Blairsville, a Mason for 65 years and a Shriner for 25 years. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Estelle P. West and his second wife, Faye Todd West; and son, McKira West Jr.

Survivors include his stepdaughters, Audrey Moore, Genevive Register, Elverta Kenney and Sharon Johnston; daughter-in-law, Alice West; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Friday, September 22, 2006 at 2 p.m. from the Jacksonville Memory Gardens. Interment will follow in Jacksonville Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, Hendricks Ave., Jacksonville, Fla., from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 21.
