Curtis & The Old Time Strings to perform at Folk School

Old time country music and comedy by Curtis and The Old Time Strings will be featured in a free concert at the John C. Campbell Folk School on Friday, September 22 at 7:30 p.m.. The public is welcome to enjoy a public exhibition of Folk School student crafts from 6:40 7:00 p.m in the Keith House Community Room, where the concert will be held. The School's Craft Shop, featuring the juried mountain crafts of over 300 regional artists, will remain open until concert time.

The Old Time Strings have been playing music together for more than 15 years, led by Kentucky State Old Time Banjo Champion, Curtis Hicks.

Also featured is former North Georgia and East Tennessee country radio personality Peanut Faircloth on harmonica, wash an instrument of his own invention. Guitarist Ernie Barton contributes his smooth baritone vocals to the group which will be joined by guest bassist, J.D. Robinson. The band has four recordings and has appeared ar such prestigious venues as the Museum of Appalachia, the Renfro Valley Barn Dance and the NASA Space Center. This will be their first appearance at the Folk School since 2003.

Upcoming concert series performers at the Folk School include Anne and Rob Lough (Sept.29) and The Lone Mountain Band (Oct.6).
