The jv Lady Panthers defeated the jv Lady Tigers of Dawson County 3-2 last week, extending their win total to three on the season.

Billie Odom had a good outing on the mound for Union County. Odom pulls double duty, also playing on the varsity squad.

The 2006 jv squad consists of junior Courtney Watts, Sophomores Rachel Gowder, Courtney Seabolt, Ashley Beltinck, and Kristian Burks, and freshmen Whitney Cook, Hayley Debell, Rachel Pope, Erin Poteete, and Odom.

The team has a total of four players that participate on both the jv and varsity squads. From the beginning of the season Head Coach Jessica Stewart has made an effort to make sure the jv girls that will be seeing varsity action this year got their feet wet early.

Coach Stewart said she feels that the team is solid 1-9 and has the ability to be very good on all sides of the ball.

At this stage, fundamentals remain a big part of the equation, and improving the consistency on defense is something that is heavily emphasized.
