Mary Ellen Jones

Mrs. Mary Ellen Jones, 68, of Ashley Circle, Blairsville, Ga., died Monday, September 4, 2006 following an extended illness.

Mrs. Jones was born Jan. 11, 1938 in Toombs County, Ga., the daughter of the late W.W. Rowland and the late Rosa Alma Rowland. She retired as a secretary from Texaco Inc. after several years of service. She and her husband made their home in Blairsville for the past 16 years moving here from Norcross, Ga. She was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Rowland; sister, Rosa Lee McNair and a step son, Glenn Jones. Mrs. Jones was of the Methodist faith.

Surviving Mrs. Jones is her loving husband of 37 years, Robert V. Jones of Blairsville; sons and daughter-in-law, Danny and Sherry Clayton of Chesapeak, Va., Steven Clayton of Canton, Ga.; step son, Greg Jones of Bainbridge, Ga.; step daughters and son-in-law, Beverly and Chris Penney, Ellen Foster, all of Sarasota, Fla.; brothers and sisterin law, Edward Rowland

of Huntsville, Al.,

Kenneth and Faye

Rowland of Union Point,

Ga.; sister, Rita Hamilton

of Vidalia, Ga.; ten grandchildren,

16 great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends also survive.

The family requests that memorials may be made to the American Lung Association in Mrs. Jones memory.
