UCB's big tomato contest

Todd Kimsey with the winning tomato- an almost unbelievable 3 pounds!
United Community Bank's annual Big Tomato Contest was once again very successful. The big winner, Todd Kimsey, grew a tomato weighing three full pounds, which meant that when he collected his $100 prize, the huge fruit yielded $33.33 per pound.

Each year in May, United Community Bank celebrates Customer Appreciation Days. Thousands of tomato plants are given out to customers, with a challenge to grow the heaviest tomato in the community by the end of August. Contestants may grow their

winning tomatoes from plants given at Customer Appreciation Day or from plants in their own gardens.

As the end of August approached, hopeful growers brought their prize tomatoes to United's Marketing Department. Each tomato's weight was recorded. After all the contestants' entries were weighed, Kimsey's tomato won. Now if he can only find bread slices large enough to make a sandwich from this giant!

Thanks to all who participated.
