Saddle Club News

The horse show season at Union County Saddle Club will be coming to an end in the next couple months. There are plenty of events planned for September and October to keep horse lovers busy. On September 9 the monthly horse show will be held . The show will feature Western, Racking and Contest events. This show is always a good time for contestants and spectators alike. On September 30 the eighth annual 4H Open Horse Show will have an extended show bill to include Western, Hunt Seat, Gaited and Contest events. Contestants are divided into two youth age groups and one adult group for each class.

This years show is sponsored by Seminole Feed and judged by Marty Teams. The 4H Show is open to everyone with special prices for 4H members. Registration is at 9 a.m. with the show starting at 10 a.m.

On October 7 there are two events: the Special Invitation Show and a Racking Horse Show. This is a special day for Saddle Club members and special residents from this area. The Special Invitation Show is held twice a year and includes safe horse activities for riders of all ages. A cook out lunch is provided. This event is free to all participants. Anyone interested in this fun day can call Lonnie Marcus at (706) 379-3810. The Racking show will be at 3:00 p.m. and will include classes for all types of racking horses.

Also, on October 21, Double C Stables will be hosting a Jackpot Barrel Race at the Saddle Club Arena. beginning at 2:00 p.m.- sign up at noon. Anyone interested in this event, please call Dawn at (706) 897-1822.

With all these events there is something for everyone at the Union County Saddle Club. Interested residents in Union and surrounding counties are welcome at the meeting on September 21 at 7:00 p.m. at the Saddle Club west of Blairsville at the intersection of state road 325 and highway 515.
