RAINER'S RAMBLINGS
Ten Commandments
By RAINER ARNOLD
I recently received an email from my brother (yes, I have a brother and his name is Dieter and his name is equally as difficult to pronounce as mine) about the Ten Commandments that I thought was very interesting. After all, he sent it to me with intent of me writing a Rainer's Ramblings about it. And, I thought it would be a great idea. After all, the display of the Ten Commandments has been a public debate for the past several years. So here goes.
When you walk up the steps to the US Supreme Court you can see at the top a row of law givers and they are facing each other and in the middle is Moses and he is holding the Ten Commandments.
The two huge oak doors that allow entry into the Supreme Court courtroom have the Ten Commandments engraved on them in the lower portion of the door and the wall right above the judges displays the Ten Commandments.
President James Madison said, "We have staked the whole of all our political institutions.... to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God."
Patrick Henry said, "It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded not by religionists but by Christians , not on religion, but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ."

Also, every session of Congress begins with a prayer by a preacher whose salary has been paid by the taxpayers since 1777 and John Jay, the first Supreme Court Justice said, "Americans should select and prefer Christians as their rulers."
Reflecting back it makes one wonder how this country has gotten to the point where everything it has done in the past 230 years is now suddenly wrong and or unconstitutional? It does make you wonder. As a matter of fact, I have something personal to add to this Rambling's. As I was driving through Austria recently I saw no billboards advertising motels, food chains or anything like that. I did however, see one huge billboard and it read, "Ich Will Dir Nahe Sein--Gott" Translated it says, "I want to be near you-God!!" So it seems that Austrians anyway, have no problem with advertising God and I really don't think we ought to have a problem with it either.
