Calendar This Alzheimer's Support Group provides interaction, information and inspiration for family members and caregivers in a confidential and supportive environment. This support group is affiliated with the Alzheimer's Association. We meet the 2nd Thursday of each month, Sept. 10, at 7 p.m. at Oriska Loving Care Adult Day Care, 1200 McKim Dr. Blairsville. Do you need a ride to and from your treatment sessions? A lack of transportation should not be the reason why cancer patients do not receive the life-saving cancer treatment they need. The American Cancer Society offers their Road to Recovery program to help transport cancer patients to and from their treatment. The Society has a toll-free number that you may call, and an operator will put you in touch with local volunteers that give cancer patients without personal transportation rides to and from their cancer treatment sessions. A place to share your thoughts and feelings and grow together with others who have experienced the loss of a loved one. GWRRA meets Chapter J of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association (GWRRA) meets the third Saturday of each month at Daniel's Steak House in Hiawassee. Lunch is at 11 a.m. and the meeting is at noon. Flea market for north Georgia SPCA The North Georgia SPCA will be holding a flea market at Ingles Shopping Center in Blairsville on October 28. We need your donations of unwanted articles to make this a success. We offer PAL (prevent a litter) coupons to help people get their animals spayed and neutered and we help people get strays/pets adopted. We do not have a facility to house animals. Please call us to find out the different drop off centers for your donated items.
