Watch for opening of ArtWorks in Hiawassee

The Mountain Regional Arts & Crafts Guild will be opening an Artisan Centre called ArtWorks in September in Hiawassee. ArtWorks will have retail and classroom space in about 2000 square feet and is located on Big Sky Drive, above the Holiday Inn Express. Shoppers will find beautifully handcrafted items from local and regional artists, such as quilts, baskets, stained glass, jewelry, pottery, leatherwork and wood carvings just to name a few.

Shopping for the perfect gift will never be any easier. A lot of the artists will be available at ArtWorks to explain their work during store hours. Classes for all ages and all interests will be offered by qualified instructors, often by the artists who show and sell their work in ArtWorks. Class times will be during the daytime as well as in the evenings, so everybody can attend. Class schedules will be announced in local papers as well as on the guilds website. November 18 & 19, 2006, from 9.00-4.00 and 11.00-3.00 respectively, at North Georgia Technical College in Blairsville. As every year local and regional artists will sell their handcrafted items and make sure you come hungry, the food will be delicious.
