Union moves to 6-2
By JARED PUTNAM

April Harper guns the pitch to the plate as the runner takes off from first base.
The Lady Panthers extended their record to 6-3 this week, defeating Pickens County 7-3 but falling 4-2 to North Hall.

Head Coach Jessica Stewart was excited about the win over Pickens County.

"That win was pretty big," said the coach, who said she believed that Pickens was ranked number seven in the top 10 coaches poll. "They're a pretty good AAA team."

Kaley Sullivan had a key two run single in that game while April Harper pitched a one-hitter.

In the rematch against North Hall the Lady Panthers started out on top 1-0 before the opposition took the lead for good with a two run double.

The Lady Panthers are looking ahead to Dawson County on September 7, as it marks the beginning of the subregion schedule.

Coach Stewart acknowledged that the team had trouble with them last year. "We're going to be prepared for them," said Coach Stewart, who pointed out that the team has a week to get ready for the game.

In the meantime the team will work on offense. "We didn't hit against North Hall," said the coach. [Their pitcher] seems to have our number."
