Copperhead Lodge promises to rock Labor Day weekend
By CHRISTIAN LEHMAN

Copperhead Lodge, Union County's newest resort, is set to kick start Labor Day weekend in spectacular style complete with leather, chrome and three southern rock n' roll legends.

Copperhead Lodge is North Georgia's first and only "motorcycle resort community with a grand rustic lodge." Designed by motorcyclists for the motorcycling crowd, along with the usual resort amenities like: casual fine dining, sleeping accommodations (both rooms and cabins are available) and recreational facilities. The 40-acre resort also offers a motorcycle shop for repairs and basic maintenance and a large outdoor amphitheater, which is the place to be on Labor Day weekend.

The festivities kick-off on Saturday evening at six with the Atlanta Rhythm Section, a group that has been around since the early seventies and have a very unique twist on the traditional "southern rock" sound. This band has influenced many musicians for over thirty years.

Sunday night brings the quintessential southern rock band Blackfoot to the stage at the amphitheater. First formed in the late sixties, Blackfoot has had many hit songs over the years including "Highway Song" which can still be heard on every classic rock radio station in the country.

The weekend raps up on Monday, Labor Day with perennial rockers Molly Hatchet, known best for "Flirtin'With Disaster" but they have a string of familiar hit songs. Molly Hatchet is to

rockin' motorcycle music now what Steppenwolf was to the genre 35 years ago. Molly Hatchet is also renowned for spending most of their time playing live shows around the world.

To get to Copperhead Lodge take 515/76 west to Nottely Dam Road. Turn left on Nottely Dam Road and the resort is about one mile down on the right. Tickets are $45 per day or $55 for the whole weekend. Refreshments will be available and coolers are welcome. For any questions call (404) 683-6654 or log on to www.copperhead lodge.com
