Madagascar returns to Meeks Park for rain date

BLAIRSVILLE - Southern Outdoor Cinema will bring the hit movie, Madagascar, back to Blairsville's Meeks Park on September 1 to make up for a rainout of a showing earlier this summer. The Madagascar event will cap off a season of family fun, as Southern Outdoor Cinema ends its free "Movies in the Park" series in Union County. The movie will be shown an a huge two story tall inflatable screen at dusk (8:00pm).

Moviegoers are invited to come out to the park at 6 p.m. for pre-movie entertainment, which will include jumps on a moonwalk and inflatable slide (for a small charge) and performances by NoJoe the Clown. NoJoe's wholesome entertainment is free; however he will accept donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. The talking zoo animals of Madagascar will come to life on a giant inflatable screen at dusk.

"Thank you to everyone in Union County who has helped make "Movies in the Park" a success this year," says Southern Outdoor Cinema owner, Paul Murray. "I hope you will all come out for one more night of fun and enjoy Madagascar with your friends and family."

Movies in the Park in Union County are free to the public, thanks to the following local sponsors: Southern Outdoor Cinema, United Community Bank, North Georgia News, and Union County Recreation Department.

"We are hoping to make Movies in the Park - Blairsville a summertime tradition," say Murray. Southern Outdoor Cinema is currently looking for sponsors for the 2007 season.
