Rebecca Lockett Snipes

Mrs. Rebecca Lockett Snipes, 86, of Blairsville, Ga., died Friday, August 18, 2006 at Union General Hospital.

Mrs. Snipes was born Saturday, May 6, 1920 in Cuthbert, Ga., to the late W.H. Lockett and the late Sara Tucker Lockett. Mrs. Snipes was born, raised and lived most of her life in Cuthbert. She moved to Branan Lodge in Blairsville in May of 2004. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Blairsville. Mrs. Snipes was preceded in death by her husband, W.E. Snipes Jr.; brothers, Herbert Lockett and Jack Lockett; and sisters, Ruby L. Mills and Hilda L. Rankin.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Billy H. and Jane W. Snipes of Young Harris, Ga., Robert E. and Kay T. Snipes of Miramar, Fla.; grandson and his wife, Dr. Brad and Jane Snipes and their children, Will, Tucker and Mary Margaret of Rocky Face, Ga.; grandson and his wife, Clark and Lauren Snipes and their daughter, Rosemary Anna of Americus, Ga.; grandson and his wife, Jason and Jessica Snipes of Richland, Ga.; granddaughter, Kellie Snipes of Atlanta, Ga.; granddaughter, Deena Snipes of Clarkston, Georgia; and

granddaughter and her

husband, Rebecca and

Brad Jones of Jackson, Miss.; four nieces and three nephews also survive.

Funeral services were held Sunday, August 20, 2006 at 3 p.m. from the Chapel of the Cochran Funeral Home with the Dr. Fred Lodge officiating. Music was provided by Kay T. Snipes and Ryan Showalter. Graveside services were held Monday, August 21, 2006 at 2 p.m. from Eastview Cemetery in Cuthbert, with Rev. Tom McClendon officiating
