Butternut Creek and Friends to perform at Old Courthouse

Butternut Creek and Friends will be the performers at The Old Courthouse on the Square in Blairsville on Friday, August 25, at 7:00 p.m.

Always favorites wherever they perform, Butternut Creek and Friends have a loyal following that eagerly looks forward to their next performance.

Steve Harvey, the leader of the group, is an accomplished songwriter as well as performer. He is an authority on folk music and many folk instruments, including the lesser known instruments. In addition to playing several instruments, he sings as well.

The Cordiers, Don and Jennifer, sing and perform on several instruments. Rachel Caviness, the bassist of the group, is involved in many musical activities and groups throughout the Georgia mountain area.

Butternut Creek and Friends have several recordings to their credit. The group is unique in that they take no profit from any of the revenues generated by their performances or recordings. They invest their earnings and profits back into the communities in which they play.

The performance by Butternut Creek and Friends at The Old Courthouse on the Square is a part of the summer concert series presented by the Union County Historical Society as a public service and to keep alive the tradition of music in The Old Courthouse. There is no required admission charge to the concerts. The musicians donate their time and talents. Voluntary contributions to the restoration fund are always welcomed and appreciated.
