Tragic accident takes Blairsville woman's life

Aday of hiking ended in tragedy last Tuesday, August 8, when a single car accident claimed the life of a Blairsville woman shortly after 2:00 p.m. Sandra Burton Hayes, 63, was traveling in the northbound lane on Hwy 19/129, just south of Blairsville

when her Jeep Grand Cherokeee crossed the southbound lane and left the roadway. The vehicle went airborne, traveling approximately 69 feet down an embankment before striking a tree and landing upside down.
