As many as 200 handcrafted items will be auctioned to the highest bidders at the John C. Campbell Folk School's annual Benefit Auction, this Friday, August 18, on the campus in Brasstown, NC. The proceeds from items such as painting, pottery, jewelry, basketry, ironwork, woodturning, dolls, weavings, rugs, and furniture will benefit the non-profit Folk School.

"The Folk School auction is a win-win situation for both the school and our supporters. The funds raised from the auction will help support the programs of the school, guests will leave with a one-of-a-kind, handcrafted treasure, the food will be incredible and the evening will be entertaining with fun and music. It's an evening you won't want to miss," stated Marianne Hatchett, Business Manager at the Folk School.

A preview of the art begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the Keith House. Emcee Jan Davidson will begin the auction at 7:00 p.m. with auctioneers Tim Ryan and Bob Grove. A silent auction will be held from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Admittance to the Benefit Auction is free and no reservations are required.

A dinner at 6:00 p.m. may be attended if reserved. The menu includes grilled London broil with mushroom Madeira sauce, ratatouille, tabouli salad, summer salad, fresh fruit tray, and assorted breads and rolls. A vegetarian option of stuffed Portabella mushrooms will be offered. Dessert will include apricot jam bars, "magic" chocolate bars, and lemon squares. Musical entertainment will be provided. The cost for dinner is $12.00 per person.
