Howard Duane Holsapple
Mr. Howard Duane Holsapple Sr., 73, of Summerhill Ln., Blairsville, Ga., formerly of West Palm Beach, Fla., died Saturday Aug. 5, 2006 in the Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Atlanta following an extended illness.
Mr. Holsapple was born Feb. 28, 1933 in Sullivan, Ill., the son of the late Dale Holsapple and the late Mary Pifer Holsapple. He graduated from Sullivan High School and Iowa State University. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army of the Korean War. Before retiring he and his brother were in business and owned Colonial Products Inc. Mr. Holsapple served as an Elder and Bible teacher for over 40 years and was a member and attended regularly at the First Christian Church in Mountain City, Ga., since moving to Blairsville six years ago.
Surviving Mr. Holsapple are his loving wife, Jean M. Holsapple of Blairsville; daughters and sonsin law, Debra and Charles Pearce of Elizabethton, Tenn., Denae and Bryon Yontz of Watauga, Tenn., one son and daughter in law, Howard D. Jr. and Kelly Holsapple of Algonquin, Ill., three step sons and daughter-in-laws, Michael and Kathleen Duncan of W. Palm Beach, Fla., Lt. Col. Rodger and Betty Duncan of Faith, N.C., and also of Iraq,Matthew and Mary El Duncan of Gainesville, Fla., four brothers, Bob Holsapple of Cantrell, IA., Lee Holsapple of Macon, IL., Ivan Holsapple of Golden, MO., Guy Holsapple of Macon,Il., one sister,Velma Schewmaker of
Macon, IL., ten grandchildren, Megan and Nathan Pearce, Lyndsie and Lukes Yontz, Marshall and Hailee Holsapple, Daniel, Andrew, Cole
and Kristen Duncan,
several nieces,nephews
and many other relatives
and friends also survive.
Funeral Celebration will be held on Saturday Aug. 12, 2006 at 12:30 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Rusty Swafford Mission International Explosion and Rev. Lee Lantzer and Elder John Dressler officiating. Laura Lantzer and Charles Pearce will provide music. Pallbearers were Bud Hunter, Eric Lantzer, Benjamin Lantzer, Charlie Space, John Patterson and Leonard Hedrick. Honorary pallbearers were Marshall Holsapple, Nathan Pearce, Lucas Yontz, Daniel and Cole Duncan. Interment followed in the Holsapple family cemetery with the North Georgia Honor Guard conducting Military Honors. The family desires those attending to please sign the family guest book and notes of condolence be sent to the home, 610 Summerhill Lane, Blairsville, GA 30512.
