A tisket, a tasket, we made some pretty baskets

Twenty-five area children from Towns, Union and Clay counties spent Thursday morning as the guests of Brasstown Valley Resort at their Creekside Pavilion making baskets and enjoying a morning of fun.

Joan Stoneham of Shooting Creek Basket Weavers Guild taught the class along with fellow basket weavers Pat Halloran, Candy Carlyle, Barb Eastwood, Charlene Thompson and Pat Neubert. The children learned some basic basket weaving techniques and made a serving tray to take home. Supplies and refreshments were made possible by a donation from Remax Oak Forest Realty. "We are so grateful for the support of so many in the community who give of their time and talent to provide these free workshops," commented Pat Neubert, MAA President. The event was sponsored by the Mountain Arts Association as part of their Summer Workshop Series.
