BRASSTOWN, NC -The John C. Campbell Folk School will offer more than 100 handcrafted items for auction on Friday, August 18, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at its annual Benefit Auction.
Artists around the country have donated items to the auction. Jan Davidson, Folk School Director, stated, "The Folk School is such a comfortable part of the neighborhood here, that we local folks may forget that it's known internationally for the highest quality of design in art and craft. The objects being sold at this auction are truly worldclass, and we want them to find homes where they will be appreciated. You can have a lot of fun at the auction, make some meaningful purchases, and support all the Folk School's programs."
Auction attendees will be able to bid on various media such as painting, pottery, jewelry, basketry, ironwork, woodturning, dolls, weavings, rugs, and furniture. Proceeds from the auction benefit the nonprofit Folk School.
Binh Pho, a worldrenowned woodturner who teaches at the Folk School said, "The Folk School's beauty, positive atmosphere and creativity make it unique in America. And if by donating a turned vessel to the auction, I can help them continue their successful approach to life and art, then I'm glad."
A preview of the art begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the Keith House. Emcee Jan Davidson will begin the auction at 7:00 p.m. with auctioneers Tim Ryan and Bob Grove. A silent auction with an estimated 100 items will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Keith House Library. Admittance to the auctions is free.
