James Hoyt Cunningham
Mr. Cunningham was born Thursday, August 6, 1931 in Union County, Ga., to the late Bluford Cunningham and Bessie Chambers Cunningham. He was a member and deacon of Bethlehem Baptist Church and a U.S. Army Veteran during the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his brother, Leroy Cunningham. Survivors include his wife, Stella Cunningham of Blairsville; son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Gayle Cunningham of Blairsville; daughter and son-inlaw, Dorotha and Denny Jackson of Pekin, Ill.; sons and daughtersin law, Larry and Diane Cunningham of Blairsville, Eddie and Nancy Cunningham of Hopedale, Ill., Jerry Cunningham of Blairsville; sisters, Betty Cunningham and Evelyn Butterworth, both of Marietta, Ga.; 12 grandchildren, 12 great granchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive, along with many friends. Funeral services were held Monday, July 31, 2006, at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Alton "Cotton" Harris and Rev. Vernon Davenport officiating. Music was provided by Bethlehem Baptist Church Choir and The Faith Singers. Interment followed in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mike Cunningham, Jason Cunningham, Jeff Cunningham, Nick Cunningham, Danny Cunningham, Matt Mattingly and Clint Mattingly. Honorary pallbearers were Harold Plott, Bill Jones, Lewis Henderson, Richard Tanner, Roy Hefner and Steve Abercrombie. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, memorial contributions may be made to the Bethlehem Baptist Church Building Fund. The Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville was in charge of arrangements.
