Third year photography winner is Marcia Stewart

The Georgia Mountain Fair Photography Exhibit gets bigger and more upscale each year. Clara Franklin and Esco Wimpy have been doing this a long time. Franklin took over from Stella Burleson who said her last year was 1994. Lion Charles Cory had asked Burleson to start the Photography Show back in 1984 and she enlisted Robert Bruce Rogers, retired from Eastman Kodak and living in Skylake, to help her. Cory's collection of antique cameras are a permanent part of a display in the Main Exhibit Hall.

Lion Wimpy has worked at the Fair since it began 56 years ago and in the Photography Show since it started.

An interesting fact from the show was that family members are competing against each other. There were two husband/wife, two mother/daughter, and one mother/ son putting in photo displays.

For the third year Blairsville resident Marcia Stewart received 1st place, winning a big blue ribbon and $100; 2nd place and $75 went to Myrtle Von Staden of Blairsville; and 3rd place and $50 went to Ricky Crawford of Murphy, N.C.
