ADTF agents busy in Union County On Thursday, July 27, 2006, the Appalachian Drug Task Force (ADTF) participated in "Operation Byrne Drugs," a national day of targeting illegal narcotics. This ADTF operation centered on illegal narcotics in the Union County area. During the operation, the ADTF agents completed numerous "knock and talk" and fourth amendment searches. The investigations resulted in arrests and seizures of drugs and property of suspected drug violators. The task force agents made two arrests and seizures at 3160 Fireweed Lane in Blairsville, Georgia. Arrested were Tania Mathiew and James David White. Ms. Mathiew was charged with two outstanding warrants, (one in Union County and one from North Carolina), and Possession of Methamphetamine. Mr. White was arrested and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Firearm during commission of a felony. Seized from the home of Mr. white was a quantity of methamphetamine and Marijuana, along with eight (8) firearms, two (2) vehicles, and a motorcycle. Also arrested during the operation was Jason Lee Cheek. Mr. Cheek was arrested at his home located at 669 shoe Factory Road. Mr. Cheek was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Firearm during commission of felony. Two firearms were seized from Mr. Cheek along with the illegal narcotics found in this home. |
