Blairsville's Meeks Park brings outdoor cinema

Blairsville's Meeks Park will shine brightly on August 25, as Southern Outdoor Cinema brings the movie March of the Penguins to its inflatable screen for Union County's second free "Movies in the Park" event this summer.

Moviegoers will watch March of the Penguins come to life on a giant inflatable screen while they sit in their lawn chairs or lie on blankets under the stars. The public can bring their own picnics or buy concessions available at the park. No glass containers or alcoholic beverages are allowed.

Pre-movie entertainment begins at 6 p.m., when kids can run and jump on moonwalks and inflatable slides for a small fee. The March of the Penguins showing will begin at dusk.

Movies in the Park in Union County are sponsored by the following: United Community Bank, Union County Parks and Recreation, North Georgia News and Southern Outdoor Cinema.
