Vendors sought for Heritage Walk & Festival Vendor spots are still available for the 6th Annual Heritage Walk & Festival on Sept. 2, in Murphy. Applications are available on the web at www.heritagepartners. org/hwf.htm or at the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce/Welcome Center, US Highway 64 West, Murphy, or by calling Barbara Darling, 828-8379636. "Some things old and some things new" are planned for the growing event that is staged in historic downtown Murphy. There is no admission and events begin at the old L&N Depot, Valley River Avenue. Sponsored by Heritage Partners and the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce, come celebrate the history, artistry and craftsmanship, music, and agricultural heritage of Cherokee County. Also on Sept. 3, enjoy the Cherokee County Historical Museum's annual Heritage Day and the Farmer's Market, both in downtown Murphy. The museum will hold the grand opening of its Trail of Tears Intrepretative Center at 11 a.m. The Heritage Walk features characters from times past performing "mini plays" throughout the historic town center. Traditional mountain instrumentalists and vocalists are featured live on the Mountain Song stage. Arts, crafts and food will be offered. |
