Customer Appreciation Day benefits S.A.F.E.
Jay and Diane Crowder hosted their 12th Annual Customer Appreciation Day and Bike Show on Saturday, June 17th, at Union County Auto. The event included a fabulous raffle to benefit S.A.F.E. This year, the first prize went to Ginny LiVigni, who was very happy with her new 24" flat screen television. The second prize was two NASCAR tickets to the Fall Atlanta Race. Winner Robert Boyd generously donated the tickets back to S.A.F.E. to be used as a prize for the upcoming Fifth Annual S.A.F.E. Poker Run & Chili Supper on Saturday, October 7th. Other great prizes included a DVD/CD player, a Weber Grill, four Lexus Level Braves/Milwaukee game tickets, a beautiful framed wolf print, a picnic back pack set, a Home Depot gift card and a Bill Elliott jacket. The raffle resulted in a donation of over $700 to S.A.F.E.!
Union County Auto, The Hog Pen, Hairbenders and Union County U-Haul sponsor this event each year as a way to say thanks to all of their customers and to support S.A.F.E. It was a great day with live music by local band, Big Samson & The Truth and tons of door prizes. There were hot dogs fresh off the grill, lots of delicious side dishes and homemade desserts for lunch.
The motorcycle show presented quite a variety of bikes with trophies for the favorites. Dan Brocker's '68 BMW came in first, Dalton Dockery's plastic three-wheeler took second place and Steve McDonald's 2002 Harley Davidson Deauce was the third place winner. The NAPA Best in Show award went to Brian Davenport's '79 Custom Shovelhead. Most folks attending were local but there were guest riders from the Atlanta and surrounding areas, too.
It was a great day and many thanks to both hosts and attendees for their support of S.A.F.E. (Support in Abusive Family Emergencies, Inc.). S.A.F.E. is the State certified domestic violence and sexual assault program serving Towns and Union counties with partial funding received from the Georgia Department of Human Resources.
