Fred Rich

Mr. Fred Rich, 91, of Blairsville, Ga., died Saturday, April 15, 2006 at Union County Nursing Home.

Mr. Rich was born Wednesday, November 4, 1914 in Union County, Ga., to the late Landon Rich and Melvina Flowers Rich. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and had written more than 500 gospel songs and numerous poems. He was preceded in death by first wife, Edith Hughes Rich; second wife, Etta Lee Chastain Rich; five brothers and one sister.

Survivors include his daughters and son-in-law, Shirley Rich of Oakwood, Ga., Kay and Charles Lewis of Braselton, Ga.; son and daughter-in-law, Presley and Jeannie Rich of Blairsville; step daughter, Susie Kelley of Blairsville; step-son and wife, Joe and Julia Gray of Blairsville; sister, Effie Payne of Blairsville; 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at 2 p.m. from the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. William Lee and Rev. Clyde Coleman officiating. Interment followed in Pleasant Grove

Baptist Cemetery.
