Young Harris College announces Summer Experience for local students

Young Harris College will be offering a Summer Experience for rising high school seniors in the local area, including Towns, Union, and Fannin counties in Georgia, and Clay and Cherokee Counties in North Carolina. Academically qualified participants will choose one college course to take in the intensive five week session, June 19 - July 21, at the special reduced cost of $375.

The summer class will introduce students to the joys and challenges of college life. They will earn college credit while attending class on campus with other YHC students. Young Harris College is offering this program to our community in an effort to encourage students to continue their education beyond high school. Students who participate in the program will

be offered the opportunity to attend sessions on career exploration, using the internet in your college search, and choosing a college. Each student will also have the opportunity to have an individual college counseling session with an academic advisor. This program will prepare students to enter their first full semester of college with more confidence and collegiate experience.

To qualify students must have a 3.0 academic average and a 970 SAT total on the critical reading and math or a 21 ACT composite score. Write Summer Experience at the top of application (or after your first name online) when applying. For more information or to apply online see www.yhc.edu or call 800-241-3754, ext. 5129, 706-379-5129, or email Susan Vardeman at susanv@yhc.edu.
